biography

entrepreneur founder
& business leader

Julia Ross has over thirty years of experience in the recruitment industry, following an early career in the construction sector where she became Chief Executive of a division of the Taylor Woodrow Group. Rising to senior leadership at a young age, she was recognised as a finalist in the London Times and Veuve Clicquot UK Business Woman of the Year Awards.

Her recruitment career began in the United Kingdom with an international group, where she advanced rapidly to manage operations across Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.

In 1988, Julia founded Julia Ross Recruitment, a business that grew from a single-service generalist recruiter into a diversified professional services group. Its operations expanded to include professional, executive, and IT recruitment; HR and payroll technology (through Aurion Corporation); and a full range of HR consulting, outsourcing, payroll, and managed training services.

The company listed on the Australian Securities Exchange in 2000 as Ross Human Directions Limited, becoming at the time the largest female-owned company ever to float on the ASX.

Julia’s leadership and entrepreneurial achievements have been recognised through numerous awards, including BRW’s Leading Female Entrepreneur and the Westpac Group Business Owner Award in the Telstra Business Woman of the Year program.

Today, Julia lives in the United Kingdom, where she continues to advise, invest in, and mentor ventures that embody innovation, resilience, and purpose.

Charity

Philanthropy has long been central to Julia Ross’s life and work. A generous and deeply committed supporter of charitable organisations, she has contributed through leadership, fundraising and practical support.

Over the years, she has been closely involved with the Salvation Army Education Committee, the Red Cross Fundraising Committee, the East West Committee, Sydney Children’s Hospital, Alzheimer’s Association NSW, NASCA and the Cornucopia Committee. She also provided infrastructure and secretarial support for NASCA and was the founding donor of Sydney’s Women’s Fund.

Her philanthropic work reflects a strong commitment to women, children and young people, particularly in the areas of education, health, opportunity and the protection of the disadvantaged.
